Paper corner protector sizes are easier to compare when every supplier uses the same four fields: leg A, leg B, thickness or caliper, and total length. A stock size from one supplier is not automatically an industry standard, and a thicker protector is not automatically a proven load rating.

Leg width controls how much of each product face is covered and how load, strap or wrapping pressure is distributed near the corner. A wider leg can increase contact area, but it does not automatically prove greater load capacity because the final behavior also depends on thickness, paper construction, adhesive, moisture, protector length and the complete packing method.

4. How to Specify Thickness or Caliper

Thickness should be stated as a finished-product measurement with the measurement method and units. Different suppliers may use caliper, nominal thickness or product-family names such as light, medium or heavy duty. Those labels are not directly comparable unless the material construction and test method are also defined.

Project-specific compression, bending, stacking or strap-contact trials can be arranged when needed, but the method, sample condition, fixture, conditioning and acceptance criteria should be agreed before the result is used as a purchasing specification.

The protector length should match the protection objective. Some applications use a full-height corner protector, while others need short protectors only at strap locations, top edges or specific impact zones. 7. When Straight L/V Is Not the Right Profile

This size guide should not be used to force every product into a straight right-angle protector. Coils, rolls, drums, deep channels or locking corner structures may need a different geometry.
